Welcome to Black Hoof Technology LLC! We are a family-owned, woman-led, IT services provider located in downtown Bellefonte. As for how we got here, let’s just say it’s been an interesting journey!

In May 2018, I met Mike Flickinger, the owner of Greybeard Technology. It was a chance meeting to discuss my idea for a charitable IT startup. I left that meeting absolutely stunned. Not only did I have a business supporting my project, but I also landed the internship that I needed for graduation.

No, you are not imagining things. You did see “graduation” in the previous paragraph. I received a degree in Animal Bioscience from Penn State in 1996. My years in the dairy industry were very rewarding, but life changes and a declining milk market forced a career do-over. I had been repairing PC’s as a hobby for over twenty years, so I re-enrolled at Penn State in 2013 to pursue a degree in Information Sciences and Technology.

Let’s fast forward to May 2019. This returning adult student finally hung her second degree on the wall! I accepted a help desk position with Greybeard Technology shortly thereafter. Mike and I had just begun to discuss a long term transition plan for his business when he made the unexpected decision to retire and close Greybeard Technology in early 2020.

As a Bellefonte native, my husband John (yes, that John Scott) did not want to see another small business leave downtown. I was not about to let Greybeard Technology’s customers lose the personalized IT services that were so critical to their businesses. Together with our adult sons, JT & Austin, we decided to form Black Hoof Technology LLC and fill the gap. We remain committed to keeping this small business downtown and continuing to provide IT services with a personal touch.
